Common Questions

Under what circumstances can false alarms occur?

Cooking fumes, steam, dust, and insects can trigger smoke detectors. Car exhaust or certain chemicals may trigger CO detectors. Install in proper locations away from kitchens, bathrooms, and garages to minimize false alarms.

How often should I test my alarm?

We recommend testing the alarm function monthly per the user manual. Clean dust from the alarm casing monthly to maintain sensor sensitivity.

How long does the battery last?

10-year sealed lithium battery models require no replacement — replace the unit at end of life. Replaceable battery models use 2 AA alkaline batteries; replace annually or when the low-battery chirp sounds.

Where should alarms be installed?

Smoke detectors: on the ceiling or wall within 30cm of the ceiling, at least 30cm from walls. CO detectors: on a wall ~1.5m above floor, 3–5m from fuel-burning appliances. Avoid kitchens, bathrooms, and garages.

Do your wireless products meet state interconnection laws?

Yes. Siterwell wireless interconnected alarms are designed to meet modern building codes. When interconnected, one trigger activates all units. UL 217 and UL 2034 certified, compliant with most US states.
