GS828A Portable Carbon Monoxide Detector with LCD Display

- High Accuracy & Reliability: This carbon monoxide detector conforms to UL 2034 standards and has a built-in advanced electrochemical sensor that detects dangerous CO levels more accurately and responds more quickly. In case of danger, the carbon monoxide detector gives an alarm of no less than 85dB to 3-meter, providing you the ultimate protection
- Intuitive LCD: LCD screen displays real-time CO levels. 3-colored LED indicator flashes red, green, or yellow to indicate an alarm, power, or a fault
- 10 Years Product life: The CO sensor is designed to last the 10-year life of the alarm. The GS828A runs on 2 replaceable AA alkaline batteries, which last about 3 years and should be replaced when the low-battery warning appears
- Flexible Installation: Wall-mounted or free-standing. Suitable for ordinary indoor living areas of the home

Important Note
part 1
1. Some combustible gases do not contain carbon monoxide, which can only be produced under incomplete combustion. If combustible gas leakage needs to be monitored, please select combustible gas alarm.
part 2
2. There are some airflow holes on both sides of the shell of the CO detector (near the back of the product). These airflow holes are designed to allow the external carbon monoxide gas to enter the inside of the detector. Only carbon monoxide entering the inside of the CO detector can be effectively detected and display the specific concentration value.
Part 3
3. To test the alarm, press and hold the TEST/SILENCE button. The alarm sounds four short beeps, pauses for about five seconds, and repeats until you release the button, while the red ALARM indicator flashes. After about 10 seconds the display returns to the current CO reading. The manual notes that this test checks the alarm sound and indicators only; it does not mean that CO is present. Test the unit weekly, and use the button test rather than smoke from a cigarette or incense.

Frequently asked questions
What batteries does the GS828A use, and how long do they last?
What batteries does the GS828A use, and how long do they last?
It uses two replaceable AA alkaline batteries; the manual lists Energizer E91 and Gold Peak GP15A. Under normal operation they provide about 3 years of power. Replace them immediately when the low-battery warning sounds.
Does the 10-year rating mean the battery lasts 10 years?
Does the 10-year rating mean the battery lasts 10 years?
No. The 10-year figure is the product service life. The AA batteries last about 3 years and are replaceable; the electrochemical CO sensor is rated for the 10-year product life.
Can I use the GS828A in an RV, boat or camper?
Can I use the GS828A in an RV, boat or camper?
No. The manual states the GS828A is intended for ordinary indoor living units and is not for use in boats or recreational vehicles. Do not rely on it for RV, marine or vehicle protection; choose a device rated for that environment.
Can I place the GS828A on a nightstand or table?
Can I place the GS828A on a nightstand or table?
The GS828A is available in a wall-mount or desktop configuration, but the manual notes that only one mounting type can be selected on delivery. Use the version you purchased; do not assume one unit can switch freely between wall and desktop mounting.
Where should I install the GS828A?
Where should I install the GS828A?
Install it near the sleeping area, at least 1.8 m (about 6 feet) above the floor. Do not install it in the basement or furnace room, within 5 feet of heating or cooking appliances, or behind curtains or furniture. Use each level of a multilevel home.
What do 1, 2 and 3 chirps mean on the GS828A?
What do 1, 2 and 3 chirps mean on the GS828A?
One chirp every 40 seconds with a yellow LED means low battery. Two chirps mean a fault or malfunction. Three chirps mean end of life. Each can be silenced for about 9 hours; four quick beeps with a red LED mean a CO alarm.
What should I do if the GS828A alarms?
What should I do if the GS828A alarms?
Move everyone outdoors to fresh air and call 911 from outside. Do a head count, and do not re- enter until emergency responders say it is safe. Do not stay inside to search for the source. Tell the dispatcher if anyone has headache, dizziness, nausea or confusion.
What CO levels trigger the GS828A alarm?
What CO levels trigger the GS828A alarm?
The manual lists 30 ppm with no alarm within 30 days, 70 ppm within 60–240 minutes, 150 ppm within 10–50 minutes, and 400 ppm within 4–15 minutes. These are alarm thresholds, not a medical or exposure-limit guide.
What does the LCD show, and what is peak memory?
What does the LCD show, and what is peak memory?
The LCD shows real-time CO concentration in ppm. Pressing TEST/SILENCE for less than one second displays the highest CO level recorded before the press; after about 10 seconds it returns to the current reading. This is a memory aid, not a replacement for the alarm.
Why is the first part of the test quieter?
Why is the first part of the test quieter?
The GS828A uses a humanized alarm ramp: after the test starts, the sound is below 85 dB for about 10 seconds and then rises above 85 dB. A quiet first few seconds is normal; continue holding to complete the test.
Does the GS828A detect natural gas or propane?
Does the GS828A detect natural gas or propane?
No. It detects carbon monoxide only. It is not a natural-gas, propane or gas-leak detector, and it will not warn you about a gas leak that does not produce CO.
